Full-mouth reconstruction is considered when the dentition has become too complex to manage effectively one tooth at a time.
Who may benefit from an assessment?
Patients with severe tooth wear, repeated fractures, multiple failing fillings or crowns, missing teeth, compromised bite, previous implant treatment, extensive restorative history or a combination of functional and aesthetic concerns.
Vertical dimension and restorative space
In selected worn dentitions, treatment may require carefully altering the vertical dimension of occlusion to create restorative space and re-establish function and appearance. This affects the entire restorative system and requires deliberate diagnosis, sequencing, provisionalization and evaluation.
Not every tooth must be treated
The objective is to decide what should be preserved, repaired, replaced and left alone. Comprehensive treatment should reduce unnecessary interventions, not create them.
Provisional restorations
When many teeth are being treated, provisionals can help evaluate appearance, speech, occlusion, comfort and function before definitive restorations are completed.
